THE TASK

Target was opening a new store in the South Park neighborhood within San Diego, California. They were looking to build excitement within the community by providing family-friendly engagements. I was tasked to reuse some corporate graphic assets as well as develop my own, to build out fun and festive designs for this winter holiday celebration.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

Target wanted to be seen as a part of the South Park community. There were multiple city engagements that we would create content for including a dark park outing, community tree lighting ceremony and a community walkabout.

We needed portable signage to be present in these outdoor settings that helped entice participation from the families. Target provided us illustrative assets with Bullseye the Target Dog and a winter wonderland setting to incorporate into our activations, while maintaining the brand integrity that customers experience within Target’s stores.

THE RESULTS

Target South Park’s opening included fun activities ranging from local restaurant food samplings, screen printing stations, music, artists and photo ops. There were plenty of festive handouts given to particpants including photo flip books, recipe cards, tote bags, T-shirts and dog bandanas.
